An area of my in-laws home was without power. Over the phone I was given directions on what to check. None of the circuit breakers looked like they were kicked off. I did check each one as suggested and encountered a difficult breaker. I was able to finally get it to move and power was restored to the area of the home. When our electric water heater had a connection problem, I remembered we’d had Bill do a couple of small jobs for us before, and called him. He came out late on the same day and did a good quick fix, and we talked about other work we’d like done. He returned on the date he gave us, bringing lights and dimmers I’d requested. He fixed the connection, replaced a number of lights and switches, cleaned up, and were gone by lunchtime. Excellent service! Very happy with their work, and I’ll call again when we need something.

Outlet

Had Bill out to fix what we thought was a broken outlet as we changed it out and still no power. Found out our garbage disposal had a trip on it and the outlet worked just fine. Bill was great and gave a great suggestion on replacing the disposal. I felt bad he came over for something like this, but he was honest and great. Didn’t charge for his time. Couldn’t be more greatful and will definitely use again if needed. 5 stars all the way.

Money Saver!

Storms last night caused power toss to most of my finished basement. Breaker reset did nothing. I learned from the prompt call back from the electrician that this was nothing more than a tripped GFI outlet (hiding behind the nightstand in the guest bedroom) ‘upstream’ from the other outlets on the circuit.

Added 50 Amp service to outside

I called Hannay Electric to discuss getting 50 Amp service run to the far side of the house. Bill asked a lot of questions about what I wanted. About the fuse panel and where it was located. How old the house was. He asked more questions than than others. He was able to come out 10 days later (a lot sooner than anyone else) to look at the situation and provided a reasonable quote. We ok’ed the work to be done and he was out the very next day. He recommended that ALL of our smoke detectors be replaced and our carbon monoxide detectors. We had this done also. Bill was looking out for our safety. Very professional and reasonably priced. I would use Bill again.

Going above and beyond Service and customer care

I was looking for a electrician on emergency availability because I had half the house with electricity and no air conditioning. I called Hannay Electric and left a message explaining above situation and I was trying for the 3rd time of getting a correct breaker. I was at Home Depot at 9PM at night and Bill called me within 20 minutes of leaving him a message. He talked me through about getting the correct breaker and I said bill me for your time. Bill said no Kevin I want you to go home put the breaker in and call me so I know if it took care of the problem. So I got home put the breaker in and it only fixed part of the electric so I called Bill. I said it only fixed part of the lights and outlets and my daughters lift chair still doesn’t work( She has MS), plus no air conditioning. Bill said he would be out the next morning at 8. Arrived at 8:10, found a 2nd breaker that was bad but had not tripped. Replaced both breakers with upgraded breakers lights and all outlets worked. Then he went to work on the furnace the circuit board was fried called Thelen mechanical and they came out replaced board and everything worked. Bill was there a little after 8 and was done by 9. In January this year, my wife and I purchased a new townhome in Ramsey (new to us but =?-15 years old). As one involved in the arts, I called on Navy veteran Bill Hannay to advise me on how best to convert the little space I had in my utility area into a fully operational home studio.

William helped fix my electrical issue for free

Home depot techs were building a shed for me and ran their nail gun compressor from my outside electrical outlet. Then something went wrong and all outside outlets died and had no power. I jumped on Youtube looking for troubleshooting tips. Reset the switch panel, then checked GFI switches in the garage and all were fine. and still no power on the outlets and I was stumped. So I went to Ramsey facebook page and requested them to recommend an electrician. 10 people responded and 6 of them recommended William Hannay. So I called him and left a voicemail. He texted back and asked what the issue was. I told him and he asked what year my house was built. It was 1994. So he told me that building code then said that outside outlets are controlled by bathroom GFI outlets. Sure enough, I checked it and it had tripped. Set it back again and the power came back to outside outlets. Thank you so much William. Now my Christmas lights are back up. And all for free. Fair Pricing and Honest

Initially hired Bill to troubleshoot a popping noise we heard near an outlet. We found out that the popping was actually a battery, but asked Bill to perform a sanity check on that outlet. We also had him replace a few outside fixtures.

During the inspection, Bill was very informative and gave things to me straight. He told me things that were issues, such as a previous owner not finishing the basement to code in regard to outlet placement, but didn’t use scare tactics or shove anything down my throat.

Bill wired my barn for me. As it looked on the beginning we where going to have to trench for days across landscaping and a driveway. He worked with my electrical coop to get a transformer dropped closer to the project and no additional cost to me. The finished product is awesome. Honest guy keeps his word and does great work. GFI wont’ reset

I had a GFI that was kicking out causing my cable/internet to not work. I texted Hannay per the website instructions and received a call within 30 minutes. He was able to talk me through the troubleshooting and we were able to solve the problem. Great service and I will send any future business their way.

Great job, great people, great heart

My husband is a disabled vet. We found ourselves without hot water for almost 3 weeks. We had hsp and had them come out. They stated the issue was electrical and we needed an electrician. I contacted Beyond the Yellow Ribbon who put us in touch with a heating company. They referred us to Bill. Bill came out and inspected our electrical and took care of many things inside that were done incorrectly and passed by the inspector when the house was built. He also told us our water heater was shot. It was an electrical heater and he recommended we put in gas. This was just the beginning….. The new water heater cost almost $1800. which we had to put on a credit card and max out. Bill went to beyond the yellow ribbon and returned to our place a week later with a check from BTYR with a check to offset part of the cost. Then after Thanksgiving he returned and replaced our outside lights which were not installed correctly after the siding had been replaced, and an outside outlet. He brought new lights which are beautiful and didn’t charge us a cent. What a heart for our disabled vets. In addition to now having a great electrician I can call on who will but emergencies first, I have a friend. This company is great. They do it right and will not steer you wrong. We were having a problem with our waterheater. Turns out it was an electrical issue and plumber couldn’t fix it, He recommended Bill at Hannay Electric.
Bill came out on the same day within a couple of hours. He was very professional and explained what the problem was and what he was going to do to fix it, all in terms we could understand. He was very courteous and efficient and made sure we understood. I immediately liked Bill his manner is no nonsense and down to earth and he’s a fellow veteran, a huge plus in my opinion.

I had a laundry list of items. Bill replaced 5 light fixtures, a ceiling fan, installed nine smoke detectors (no more batteries to replace!) replaced lights in garage and garage door openers, plus a couple three-way switches, exterior receptacle and replaced weatherproof covers on outdoor receptacles… all in four hours. Excellent Diagnostics

Losing power in “Half” of house was very puzzling. We troubleshooted everything we could think of and started calling electrician companies (keep your phone books…our interest went down). We tried calling numerous Electricians (off hours) none would help or just wouldn’t answer. Then we came across Hannay Electric. Wow Bill Hannay was so helpful! What a difference in customer service. Late on Sat. he asked a lot of questions to get an idea of what was happening in our home (all over the phone). He said it is most likely street side issue. Came down to being electric company’s issue Connexus (street side). We called them and they came out to fix it late that night and ended up being a whole neighborhood issue with gophers (not the MN Golden kind…LOL). Gave us a small transformed until Electric company could come out to the neighborhood to redo the whole neighborhood. We will keep Hannay Electric on our radar forever. Fast response time and great service.

I put in a request for a local electrician on the app Thumbstack and a request went out to 4 local electricians. Hannay Electric LLC was the only company that responded to my request and he responded within 15-20 minutes. I was having issues with a circuit breaker and Bill spent about 10 minutes on the phone asking questions and explaining things to me before it was decided I needed to have a circuit breaker replaced. Bill said that he could stop by my house at the end of his day before he went home.

My husband tried to install some smart switches to be able to control our lights whether we are home or not. Unfortunately, it was wired in such a way as to make that impossible, but he couldn’t get it back to the original wiring either. I got a referral from a friend about Hannay Electric and sent a text. Anyone who owns a house knows how hard it is to get a contractor willing to work on a small job, but that wasn’t a factor with Hannay was Electrical. He explained to me over the phone that he has run into this in other houses built at the same time as ours (2010) and some of the switches with multiple controls simply can’t be wired for smart switches. I was pleasantly surprised when Hannay was available to come out the next day (I texted on a Sunday) and he was here right on schedule. He was very informative and helpful. His fee was reasonable (actually a little less than I expected) and he finished the job quickly and efficiently, while still finding the time to chat for a few minutes. Without a doubt I will use Hannay Electric again if the need arises. He was also good for my husband’s ego (as he is quite good at basic electrical work), reminding me to tell my husband no one could have made the switch do what we wanted it to do.

Electric Car Charger

I located Bill Hannay through TrustVets on line. I found him to be a professional and an advocate for his trade. He helped me prepare the site for a ClipperCreek electric car charging station. When on site, he and his son explained their process and how they stepped well beyond the Minnesota electrician code for installing a 220 volt line from my house panel to the charging station outside. His attention to detail provided me with a confidence that my job had his attention and was going to be accomplished properly.

He was able to give me a price quote right over the phone, and gave me pointers to make sure I couldn’t solve the problem myself so I didn’t have to pay for service. Hot tub Haven

Bill and his son had to dig a trench of about 300 feet and I think 18″ down with a junction box because of the distance. Bill got the hot tub hooked up and we won’t have to worry about tripping a fuse. He fixed a couple things that were not done correctly by previous “expert”. We love our new therapy tub, and we love the fact the electrical is safe and done according to code. Thanks guys!

I called later in the day after 5pm and left message. Bill called me back and gave me some pointers on the issue I was having. And he was spot on was a simple fix. A gfi tripped in my garage and cause 2 out let’s in my lower lvl to just die. He talked me through what to look for and why it is that way. Bring this house to the up to code/standards

I Contacted Bill Hannay needing someone to help get my Mothers home up to code standards. This house had been re-modeled by quite possibly every back yard would be electrician my Father could find over the 60 years they owned it, and needed extensive updating work to include the entire circuit panel replaced from the old “glass type” fuses to circuit breakers. Bill came in when he said he would be there and completed the work right on schedule. The issues he found were to many to list but all were addressed and fixed to all code standards. Bill told me on the phone that this is the work he specializes in, the bring old houses and electrical problems up to standards and proper codes. That is everything he did. If this type of work is what you need and you don’t contact Bill Hannay I believe your making a huge mistake.

We had an issue with our electrical service and an appliance that kept tripping one of the breakers. I called Bill and he was out right away to take a look. He fixed the problem right away.
